KVELERTAK - Nattesferd

Kvelertak - Nattesferd (2016, Roadrunner Records)

The path that AC/DC paved for all the Airbourne and Kvelertak of today has always been what I often call drive in the middle of the road as an efficient blend of rock and roll and some angrier elements.

With their third album, Norwegian Black N’ Rollers of Kvelertak are taking the roll path more than the Black one. Except for the opener of ‘’Dendrofil for Yggdrasil’’ that seems to be the bridge between their widely acclaimed self-titled debut and Meir, Kvelertak gets another step towards mainstream Metal audiences. They even get into the groovy fuzz bandwagon of the followers of Windhand and co with the ender ‘’Nekrodamus’’. Not that the doomy edge isn’t my thing. It is. But It felt like a command more than an actual artistic choice.

It is in the whole an effective album but I would be more inclined to get back to Meir and their debut album as it is for Kvelertak. Rocking bands like this get a lot of fans real quick but they seem to get their peak early in their careers. Obviously, it is behind them now.
