SADISM – Alliance [2015 Blindspot]

Sadism – Alliance (2015, Toxic / Mechanix Records)

Coming out of Santiago, Chile the Death metallers of Sadism are carrying the South American tradition of powerful Metal bands. They have been at the forefront of the scene since the late 1980’s.

With a penchant for old school Death metal à la Bolt Thrower and Immolation, their duo of guitarists give a rich sound for their aggressive approach. With those solos and tight songs, this is not your melodic death metal. ‘’Impure and Obscene’’ has strong riffs and the breakdowns are giving a strong edge to the album.

The production is clean and every instrument sounds really well. As mentioned before the guitars have a central presence without overshadowing the drums that is adequate but not extremely technical or outstanding. The pounding is correct and supports the rest of the music. It is not the star of the show.

Alliance is a solid album that carries the old school Death metal flag with the right brutality and aggressivity. Where many bands of the late 1980’s early 1990’s have vanished or rested on their laurels, others like Sadism constantly made good records that are almost mandatory stops for Death metal enthusiasts.
